France – Provence-Laugendoc

The Pont du Gard is a portion of a Roman aqueduct built in 19 BC to carry water to the Roman city at Nimes. The entire aqueduct is 40 miles in length and shows the prowess of Roman architecture and construction. The three level Pont is over 500 feet in length and while it no longer carries water it still stands after two millennia. This poster is from around 1970 and features a photo of the aqueduct from the Gardon River.


France – Bourg-en-Bresse

Bourg-en-Bresse is a commune in eastern France in the foothills of the Jura mountain range. Its primary attraction is the famous Church of Brou with its famous mausoleums. Shown in this poster is a photo of the church interior and one of the mausoleum.


France – Languedoc Roussillion

Languedoc Roussillion is the southernmost region of France on the Mediterranean coast. The Abbey St Michel-Cuxa is a medieval site and favorite tour stop. This poster features a photo of the Abbey and dates from around 1970.


France – Poitou Charentes

Poitou Charentes is a region of France with Poitiers as its capital. Located in the Southwest of France, Poitou is believed to be the home of the Acadians who settled Nova Scotia and the Cajuns who settled New Orleans. This poster is a photo of the port city of La Rochelle and dates from around 1970.

 


France – La Rouergue/Conques

Conques is a hillside village in the Mid Pyrenees region of France. Its medieval streets are a great attraction as is the St. Foy church that dates from the middle ages. This poster features a photograph of the city with the church spires prominent.


Paris – Arc de Triomphe

The Arc stands at the head of the famous Champs-Elysees and commemorates those who died in the defense of France. Built between 1810 and 1838, the Arc is also home to the remains of the French Unknown from World War I. Each night the remains are honored in a tribute staged by veterans – quite different from Arlington, but inspiring in its own right. The view from the top is the best in Paris with the magnificence of the Eiffel Tower in full view. This poster features a photo and is from the 1970’s.


Paris – Notre Dame

Since 1345 the Cathedral of Notre Dame has occupied its place of honor on the Ile de la Cite in Paris. Situated on the Seine, it has long been the focal point of art and life in the French capital. This poster is from 1970 and features a beautiful Fall scene.


Paris – Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower has been the symbol of Paris since it was first erected in 1889 for the World’s Fair. The trip to the top is exciting as the elevators run up the legs of the tower and the view is stunning. Their are three levels and at night, the view of the lights of Paris is hard to top. This poster is from the 1970 time frame and features a photograph of the tower looking from the Trocedero across the Seine with the Champ du Mars in the background.
