Kinagin

One of our favorite posters. From 1940, this Swiss poster advertises a liquor made of gin, vermouth and quinine. The image reminds us of the famous World War II icon, Kilroy, also famous for his long nose poking over the edge of a wall or table. By E. Patke.

A famous and mysterious poster. The women is Gabrielle Delys, a  renowned French actress and singer who died in 1920. Gaby was a flapper who was friends of the rich and famous. This poster, which dates from1930 is for a French liqueur that may or may not have existed at the time. Rumor has it that this poster was part of a hoax perpetuated by a group of humorists. It may have been a hoax, but history also tells us that Fap Anis, an anise flavored liqueur was produced subsequent to the release of  this poster.
