The Basque Coast of France has been long known for its great beaches and as a playground for both the rich and famous and the everyday traveller. Biarritz is the most famous of the Basque coast beaches with surfing, natural beauty and casinos. This poster from 1950 was published by the French National Railroad which was created by consolidation of the six famous Chemin de Fer that existed previously.
Chateau de Pau is featured in this poster by ALO (Charles Hallo). The chateau remains today as the center of the town of Pau in southwestern France. Henry IV of France and Navarre was born there in 1553, and Napolean used it as a holiday home when he ruled the country. From 1928, this Chemin de Fer de Orleans et de Midi poster is a classic of the French chateau series of works favored by all six of Frances railway (Chemin de Fer) systems.
