During World War II, the government conducted savings bond drives to raise money for the war effort. In 1944, the war was costing America $250 million a day. To help offset, savings bond drives were conducted for specific periods of time with specific objectives. The 6th war loan drive ran from November 2, 1944, to December 16, 1944 with the obvious objective being the attack on Japan. The drive raised $21.6 billion. This poster from the General Printing Office was the official poster for the drive.
